Footnote: Something I never knew about until just lately--the Japan-Brazil connection. Evidently lots of Japanese moved to Brazil back when we wouldn't take them. More recently, a lot ohave gone back to Japan, not least at the behest of Toyota, who recruited them to work in Japanese Toyot plants.
It's, incidentally, also the story of the origin of Brazilian jiu jitsu, which is based on the Judo developed by Jigaro Kano and brought to Brazil by Mitsuyo Maeda.
