Ich bin ein Ventilator

Last month I wrote that "I'm a big fan of public transport" (link). Now I find myself linked to some kind of travel website which for whatever reason translates me into German (link). So:
Ich bin ein grosser Ventilator der öffentlichen Transportmittel...
Um, my German is just about zilch but I don't think a ventilator is a fan.

Well, better than being "a ignorant blowhard" (link).

I think that one of the meanings of the German word "Ventilator" is "fan". In French it is "ventilateur", in Italian "ventilatore". They all come from the Latin noun ventulus = breeze or from the equivalent verb ventilare.

PS - V means F but F does not always mean V.
You're a type of fan who cannot be used to find relief from the heat unless, for example, you cover yourself with ice...
