On the Bancroft family, owners of the Wall Street Journal:
Watching the family flail these past few months, one couldn’t help agreeing with Ms. Chelberg’s assessment: the Bancrofts simply weren’t capable of owning Dow Jones. They were barely capable of selling it.
Italics added. That’s Joe Nocera, “Talking Business” in Saturday’s NYT on “How the Bancrofts Blew It,”—how the Bancroft family lost the Wall Street Journal to the Demon of Wapping (link [$]). I suppose it is a riff on the notion that “the argument is so bad that it isn’t even wrong.” Maybe he’ll get a book out of it, like this one.
