Weekend Homemwork Assignment

Good morning--her's something to start your day:

...from Bloomberg, reprinted in Econonbrowser, along with some quotes from the President who says "there will be ups and downs." Econbrower responds: "strikes me as a little blithe."

Then for a broader view, move on to Naked Capitalism, for Character and Capitalism, the blog version of a matryoshka doll, giving you Robert Skidelsky via Mark Thoma via Steve Waldman via Yves Smith.

For solace, continue to The Oil Drum, which offers up "David Paterson: First Openly Peak Oil Aware Governor."

All this may be conventional wisdom. For an outlier, try Knzn at Economics and... who says "This inflation report scares me." What Knzn fears is not too much inflation, but too little.

And a final note, from my friend Ignoto who does not have a blog. Say what you like about Eliot Spitzer (thanks, I will) he was the only public official really trying to get his arms around the current financial uproar.

Update-- Say Wha--?: Mark Perry says " It's a little slow today for new posts on economics..." (link). Say wha--? Would this be because Perry has been telling us for months that there's really nothing to worry about? He does offer a cool video of a piano shredding, though.
