Paul Broun in the Grand Tradition

Wichita points out that tht Congressman Paul Broun, having compared Barack Obama to Hitler, now chooses to hunker down behind the non-apology apology.
(CNN) — Republican Paul Broun is sorry for calling President-elect Barack Obama a 'Marxist' and comparing him to Adolph Hitler, the Georgia Congressman said Tuesday.

“I regret putting it that way,” he told WGAC radio in Augusta, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I apologize to anyone who has taken offense at that.” (link) (emphasis added)
Presumably the racists and rednecks voters of the Georgia's 10th District, who just chose to reelect him, need no such special attention.

But here is an oddity: via Wiki, we learn that Broun's major legislative initiative so far is a bill that would bar soldiers from looking at dirty pictures. Apparently apologies are not always enough.

Hey, watch your mouth there, Buce. The man's a gen-u-wine medical doctor. If he says looking at dirty pictures is bad, he must know from personal professional advanced medical laboratory experience.

He also wants to bomb the University of Georgia, 'cept for the football team. This shows he can make fine distinctions and is therefore a potential presidential candidate, assuming Sarah Palin turns down the candidacy for a seat on The View.

But bombing marxist fascists? I dunno about that. Seems to me, you want to separate them first and THEN bomb them, just so's you'll know which bomb blew up what.

Your very crankily,
