Agios Nikolaos
Wiki lists 12 places in Greece and Cyprus that bear the name "Agios Nicolaos," St. Nicholas, but we are hoping to touch down today at the one on the east end of Crete. I've never been out here before but this would seem to be the "quiet zone"--far (for example) from the main action in the Battle of Crete between the Germans and the Allies during World War II. This end of Crete was occupied first by the Italians which surely must have been a lighter yoke than the Grerman mandate that arrived later.
