The Non-passing of Dr. Demento

NPR has an interesting (non)story up this morning on the passing of Dr. Demento, except that it isn't, really: apparently he is leaving old-fashioned steam-powered radio, but remains a presence online, which is his natural habitat anyway. The tone of the interview made it pretty clear that the doctor doesn't see this as a departure, and that he retains his trademark tone of cheerful arrested development. All I can say is I'm glad he wasn't around when I was nine; I might not have gotten any education at all. Perhaps the most interesting thing I learned from the story is that when the broadcast biz says "top 40" it means "women aged 18 to 30."
