Anyone who gave themselves a cheap thrill by reading The Economist's leader and special on cyberwarfare might do well to absorb the second opinion on offer from the not-easily-dazzled Bruce Schneier. I suspect more than a little of the attention on cycberware just now comes as a result of the new book from Richard Clarke, who made his name as Mr. Nobody-listened re 9/11. I think Clarke is a smart and serious guy but he's also in the business of selling the cyberthreat, and this is beginning to look like one of those cases where it is worthwhile to think before you panic.
PS: Wired is not impressed by Clarke, either.
