When They Say "Elder Statesmen," They Mean It...

I suppose this is old news to the folks in Hawaii, but I'm savoring the joke that Daniel Akaka is leaving the Senate at 86, still junior to Daniel Inouye--Inouye 27 years Akaka's senior in the Senate and four days his senior in life.  Cf. link link.

He's been promising the fruits of his seniority for years. You'd think that after a decade or so, that would have pushed the Akaka bill over the line.
