New-Age Emergency Aid

The Wichita bureau reports that his GPS offers an app that will allow him to quick-find Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.  I guess it counts as a technical innovation, but in principle I suspect it might notbe as novel as it may  appear at first blush.  I am mercifully free of any first-hand experience with AA but I gather that one operating maxim is that you be able to get help when you need it (insert joke about Triple-A road service here).  It's the tradition that led to the airport page for "friends of Bill W to come to gate 15"--Bill being Bill Wilson the founder of AA

Google Navigator does not offer that feature. Who says the standalone GPS is replacable?
