Apparently the astrologers, numerologists and whatnot are going bananas over the fact that today, November 11, 2011, is 11-11-11. It is indeed an impressive number; in base ten, 111111 times 111111 equals 12345654321 and about how many other numbers can you say that? Take 111111 as binary and the base ten equivalent is 63. On the other hand, 111111 base ten, translated to base two is--left as an exercise to the student.
In my life it has a more prosaic meaning. My mother would have been 109 years old today and I doubt she would have enjoyed it.
