My colleague Carlton has a newspaper clip by his office door recommending Akhil Amar for the Supreme Court. The sponsor: Mike Gravel, whose chances of winning the Democratic nomination for president are, ahem, slim.
This occurs to me: my nine-year-old granddaughter told me she thought I would make a pretty good judge. Since her chances of becoming president are probably a lot better than Gravel's, I should say my prospects are looking up.
