Afterthought: in the catalog of political apologies, I'd say this one is actually pretty good--not nearly as slimy and evasive as the norm. But may we have a little less talk of "mistake"? Edwards didn't make a "mistake;" a mistake is when you make a wrong choice on insufficient information or without opportunity for reflection. Edwards, fully informed and with ample opportunity for reflection, made a damn fool choice which now regrets. And well he might.
