Heraklion

We're booked today for Heraklion in Crete which I remember from the 80s as kind of a hole, but convenient to a lot of ancient stuff, not least the extrodinary Victorian mishmosh that is Minoan Knossos. Also the home of the painter who wenet to Spain where he became known as "El Greco," the Greek. Had he stayed home, he would have been simple Doménikos Theotokópoulos.
