If you're going to dis "text written centuries after the crucifixion,"--assuming you date said event to ca. 33 C. E., there probably needs to be some editing of The Sequel.
Last time I heard, for instance, the dating of Mark was ca. 50 years later. It's not centuries--let's stipulate that post-312 C.E. doesn't make the cut anyway--but it's rather a bit of time. Even the early ones date from 20 years after the alleged ear-repair--more Me than The Actor's Life, as it were.
