Teraflops, etc.

A teraflop is “a measure of computing speed equal to one trillion floating-point operations per second” (link—but you knew that, right?). A subsidiary of India’s Tata group has produced a supercomputer with a speed of 117.9 teraflops, making it the fastest in Asia, and the fourth fastest in the world (link).

I read this while waiting for the hotel desk clerk (in India) to add up his nightly bar receipts on a piece of onion-skin paper, with a number two pencil.
